Some Quick Facts About Running Your Own Vending Business

in Business Ideas

Although I think vending is a great home based business, don’t get into it thinking it’s some sort of get rich quick scheme. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Although vending may look easy, that’s not the complete picture. While it’s true that vending isn’t brain surgery, it does require a certain mind set and personality in order to be successful. Just about anyone could build up a small route to make an extra $200 or $300 a month, but building a route up large enough to provide a full time income is a whole other matter. The amount of work involved in buying, locating, relocating and servicing over 400 machines is a substantial amount of work. More work than most people are probably prepared for.

2. Vending isn’t a “cash cow”, “easy money” or any other get rich quick term you may read online. If you think that all vending entails is buying a few machines and slapping them on location, you’re going to be for a rude awakening. There is no such thing as easy money. Not in life, not in business and certainly not in vending. Buying and locating hundreds of vending machines takes a single minded determination that most people simply don’t possess. This may not be what you want to hear, but unless you possess a single minded determination and the will to follow through, you’ll never make it in vending.

3. Being self employed is fabulous. Well, closer to the truth, it really is great, however not everyone is cut out for it. A lot of people need a set schedule and direction and when they try working for themselves, things get quickly off track. Don’t think that self employment means long lunches, extra vacations and sleeping in. More likely than not, self employment is all about shorter lunches, less vacation time and longer hours.

If you like the idea of being more in control of your financial destiny, if you’re someone who is very self driven and motivated then I would definitely recommend starting a vending machine business as an option, just so long as you keep in mind all the work involved.
